Geometrica Achieves FPC Certification for CE Marking, with EXC3

by Alejandro Algara

We at Geometrica have always strived to provide our clients with the highest quality standard possible. Proof of this is the latest re-certification of our Factory Production Control (FPC) system for CE Marking of our construction products.

Compliance with EN 1090-1, the European standard for Execution of Steel and Aluminum structures, is mandatory for such products sold in the EU construction market, including the manufacturing of metal frames or structural components. This mark symbolizes conformity in the supply chain regarding the applicable harmonized European Standards. As a preferred service provider, Geometrica's factory production control (FPC) system meets or surpasses European Norms (EN) and harmonized standards.

Geometrica's FPC system received its first certification back in 2015. Back then complying with EN 1090-2:2008. After that, our FPC system was re-certified in compliance with EN 1090-2:2018. Both of those times, we were covering Execution Class EXC2 buildings. However, thanks to our wiki based and ISO 9001 certified quality management system (QMS), we only needed to do some tweaks to our processes to achieve Execution Class EXC3 buildings too. Having Execution Class 3 would broaden the range of possible uses for Geometrica structures within the European Union and other countries that use EN 1090.

With this in mind and through the pandemic, we sat down, documented the improvements, and called TWI Certification Ltd. of the UK to re-audit our factory production control and welding management systems.

We are pleased to announce that we passed the audit and TWI issued our new "Certificate of Conformity of the Factory Production Control", with coverage of Execution Class EXC3 buildings under EN 1090-1, EN 1090-2 & EN 1090-3. This certification was obtained in compliance with the current versions of EN 1090-2:2018, the Construction Products Regulation 2011 (retained EU law EUR 305/2011) as amended by the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, and the Construction Products (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020.
